Professional Inventor Pre-requisite Exemption
To qualify for this exemption you should be employed or otherwise in a position that requires
your direct involvement in the specific designing and building of inventions for industrial or commercial uses.
These uses may be medical, aerospace, transportation, consumer goods/inventions etc.
(Non-commercial inventions are usually considered machine art)
It is recomended but not necessary that applicants hold a technical diploma
or a degree in art, science, engineering or robotics.
Exceptions will be allowed for Professional Inventors of
noted ability and reputation.
The Professional Inventor Pre-requisite Exemption consists of the following steps:
- On-Line Evaluation
Prospective applicants complete an on-line evaluation/questionaire.
A sucessful evaluation will permit the applicant to access a mail-in application.
- Mail-In Application
The applicant will submit the application for a degree in Applied Gizmology by way of a
Professional Inventor pre-requisite exemption.
This application requires:
- Applicant information: name, address, contact information.
- The minor specialization yor are requesting.
- A copy of the Professional Inventors on-line evaluation.
- Diplomas and/or Degrees held.
- Awards granted in regards to designing, engineering and inventing.
- Memberships in technical or inventor's associations etc.
- If this application is based on designing and inventing in the course of your employment
you are required to:
- Provide general information about your tasks and duties regarding designing and inventing in the course of your employment.
- Provide a minimum of two letters of reccomendation from a supervisor or project team leader
verifying your participation in designing, engineering and inventing projects.
or
- If you are a self employed entrepreneur/inventor provide information and evidence of the
commercial successes of your inventions.
A minimum of four commercial inventions including:
- Supporting photos of each product.
- Invention/product packaging, trademarking, etc.
- Quantity manufactured.
- Date of first sales
- Current status of the invention. Still in production? etc.
- Sign the statement of claim to the content of the invention portfolio
- Include the examination fee of $25 U.S.

Employees who have signed non-disclosure agreements with
their employers may not divulge proprietary information for this
application.
Examination Results/Degree Approval
The Exemption Review board verifies the credentials of the applicant and
considers the portfolio. If it is found that the applicant has shown an reasonable
measure of inventive ingenuity and has demonstrated proficiency as an inventor, engineer, scientist, etc.
a Professional Inventor a degree in Applied Gizmology will be granted.
If approved the Exemption Review Board will grant a degree in Applied Gizmology. The level of the degree
granted will be at the Bachelors level. If the Review Board deems the applicants portfolio
and application to be substantial enough the degree will be elevated to the Masters level.
The applicant is then notified via e-mail or post mail and must submit the final fees
in-order to process the degree.
A final fee of $25.00 is required for the degree in addition a $7.00
shipping and handling charge.
Failed Applications
Applications that are not deemed to have met the requirements of the Inventor's Standards
Bureau will be notified by mail.
